City Gates is built and maintained by Nathan Clark and Matt Kirkland, web designer-developers in San Diego. When you work with City Gates, you'll be working with people that care about the success of your ministry.
City Gates started as a project to make our own church websites better - churches we've grown up in and been a part of for years. We built an easy-to-use content management system so ministry workers could use the church website as a way to strengthen their community, and updating the site became super-easy. We added smart ways to aggregate the site's data - so site visitors could get a simple birds-eye view of what's going on at church. The project went so well, we decided to share it. We think every church should have a first-class website - and we're committed to making that happen.
worked in Silicon Valley before moving to San Diego to pursue independent projects like City Gates. His commitment to modern best practices ensures that City Gates sites are always fast, lightweight, and easy to work with. Although he frequently claims to be a native Californian, Nathan actually grew up in Kansas.
has the design chops to build great sites, and the usability skills to make sure things run simply. His background is in the product design field, where he learned to work closely with real users to make intuitive, useful things. Matt joined Nathan in San Diego after doing design work in Hong Kong.
